New salon a cut above the rest
With over 30 years experience in the business and work which includes styling shoots for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, John Rocha, Betty Jackson and high street giants Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, it’s exciting to hear that one of the North West’s leading hairdressers is opening a new salon in Fulwood, Preston.
Anthony Whinn, who trained at Vidal Sassoon and has previously worked at Toni & Guy, is planning to launch new venture AM1 in March 2012. Passionate about hairdressing and equally passionate about his new business, Antony is keen to outline the philosophy that underpins the salon:
? I really want it to be a friendly, approachable place, where people don’t feel intimidated by the atmosphure. To me, great hairdressing starts when you develop a good relationship with your clientele. Understanding what suits different face shapes and hair types is only part of the equation. Understanding people’s lifestyles and personalities is even more important. That’s why I wanted to set up AM1 ? a salon where people can genuinely come in for a free consultation, where they’ll enjoy great service, including a complementary hand massage with each treatment, and, most importantly, where they’ll leave with a fabulous hair style that looks just as good two weeks later as it did the moment they stepped out of the salon.?
For Anthony, who’s been at the cutting edge of the hairdressing industry for three decades and won North West Hairdresser of the Year in the 1990s, style is much more important than fashion:
?Trends in hairdressing are always evolving and it’s certainly crucial to keep up to date with new techniques and developments. However, just like clothes, there are some styles that will never suit certain people. A responsible hairdresser will always advise a client that a particular haircut is inappropriate for them. I want everyone who comes to AM1 to leave looking fantastic, having received great advice as well as a great hair cut or colour.?
In addition to his regular hairdressing, Anthony has also trained with Macmillan’s Strength in Style programme, aimed at providing specialist services to people affected by cancer: ?Having people specially trained to support people whose hair has been affected by cancer treatment is a great initiative and something which I’m very proud to be involved with.?
Anthony will be continuing to support this Macmillan initiative at AM1 and is looking forward to sharing his expertise in this confidence-boosting work with new clients in the Fulwood area.
